Importance of toys in child development and the sort of toys parents should buy for their little ones.
Role of Childhood Education
For a long time educators have been stressing upon the importance of quality Early Childhood Education Programs for kids. Kids are curious and receptive to learning new things through exploration.
The most important role of early childhood education is to help kids perceive information from their surroundings, enhance their development, enhance their motor skills, and also to help them become better at social interaction.
It’s been observed that kids who attend early childhood programs are likely to perform better in studies and other activities once they go in the higher classes. High-quality early childhood programs result in kids getting better grades. They are very less likely to repeat a year/grade and very fewer referrals to special education programs have been seen.
Early Childhood Education Programs Positively Impacts PISA Scores
A recent study reveals that students who join early childhood education programs show better PISA scores.
PISA is conducted by the ‘Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’ (OECD) which is made up of 34 countries, including the United States, China, Germany and Japan.
And as per the report on the PISA scores, across OECD countries, students who attended early childhood programs performed much better than their peers, showing an improvement of almost a full year.
This was particularly true of countries like SINGAPORE, KOREA, POLAND, SHANGHAI and HONG KONG, which have seen a big increase in enrollment rates for under 5-year-old children in early learning programs.
Its seen that high-quality early childhood programs results in fewer referrals to special education programs, reduced grade repetition and increased high school graduation rates.
So its important for parents to focus on the health and education of their children, especially under the age of 5-7, as it can lay the foundation for achievement in school, college, career and life.
Importance of Toys in Early Childhood Development
Toys play an important role in Early Childhood development as they keep the little hands and brains busy while learning at school or home.
Toys help children in a lot of ways, they teach them how cause and effect work, it improves gross motor skills, improves cognitive skills, it heightens their sensory organs while playing, stimulates creativity, it develops problem-solving skills, and even teaches them to work in groups and about conflict resolution.
Quality toys can positively impact a child’s intellectual & physical growth. Educational toys also provide peace of mind to parents who want their children to learn through fun.
This is why toys are effective tools and play an important role in early childhood development.
When choosing toys and games for preschoolers, less is definitely more; you want simple and durable materials that let the kids imagine, explore, create, and stretch their creative minds, and reasoning skills while also developing their language skills.
At this age, you should provide them with a variety of educational toys such as building toys, puzzles, challenging coding games (depending on the age of the child) that will encourage the children to think and be creative.
