There are several places where parents can sell their old used toys; the idea is to promote reuse and less to make money. However, certain vintage toys can also fetch a handsome amount when you resell them.
Selling Used Toys to Promote Sustainability
Several reselling platforms have emerged in recent times that allow parents to resell toys that are no longer in use. Most parents have this common grouse that their kids have a lot of toys that are no longer in use and are just occupying useful storage spaces.
A lot of parents are also concerned about the environmental impact of toys (as most toys are made of plastic). Then there is this issue of wastage that also bothers some parents.
Resell on online platforms
This is where parents can make use of online reselling platforms where old toys can be sold, thereby encouraging reuse and reduction of wastage.
- Parents can sell reused toys at the following places: eBay, FB Marketplace, Amazon, other popular online marketplaces.
- Sell locally at Garage sale, some Toy stores also take back used toys (although for a lower price)
Give to Charity
You could even donate the toys to the less privileged; just donate the toys to charities and make the less fortunate kids happy.
Consider giving your old toys to Charities (Salvation Army, Goodwill), Children’s Homes, Women’s Shelters, Social Services, Hospitals, Doctors’ Offices.

More people are digging into their closet to check out their old toys due to the pandemic, Also, a lot of Generation Xers are now seeking the toys of their youth because of which the value of vintage toys have soared during the pandemic.
Some vintage toys are now worth hundreds of dollars. Some of them include:

- 1980’s Cabbage Patch dolls
- Early American Girl dolls
- Crissy and Dawn dolls
- African-American Christie dolls
Now that you know that vintage toys are in demand, you can sell vintage toys and make some money in the process. Here’s how to go about it.
- Find out the value of your Toy. The best place to begin your research is to check the toy value on websites that buy vintage toys.
- Clean your Toys using a paintbrush, toothbrush paper towels, Q-tips, and a small amount of water. You may need to use suitable solution for removing the remains left by missing stickers without destroying the surface.
- Take high quality pictures using high-quality mirrorless or DSLR cameras. Ensure your toy looks best when you’re taking pictures.
- List your toy online, provide detailed description, mention about the condition of the toy – mint condition toys will usually fetch more than those that show wear and tear.
Flipping Toys
While toys are primarily for children, lot of adults also like to collect figures and models (especially of superheroes) due to their love for movies.
Lot of adults also purchase Art Toys (or Designer Toys) that are collectibles/toys made by artists, designers, toy companies, typically in very limited editions.
Then their adults who like to collect vintage/antique toys in order to build their collection of toys or for flipping them.
